Credit scores are
made up of calculations based on data in your credit reports and, and
the numbers are constantly changing, sometimes more than once per day.
That's why it's so important to stay on top of your credit reports for
changes that could affect your credit scores. Other than pulling your
credit report on a daily basis, credit monitoring is the best way to know
what's happening in your credit report.
Credit monitoring
services are offered through all of the big three credit bureaus. Each
agency offers their own version of monitoring, but the features are somewhat
similar. Generally you’ll be able to view your credit report and
be notified of any alerts or changes that may affect your score. Credit
monitoring also provides you with real-time access to pull new reports
at no charge. Some versions will allow you periodic updates, but offer
upgrades to see live reports at your request.
Staying on top of
your credit score is hugely important if you’re in the process of
repairing or improving your credit. Knowing where you stand is priceless.
